Learning Objectives: After completing this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the relative advantages and disadvantages of the microscopic versus the endoscopic transsphenoidal approaches to sellar lesions.
- Idenitfy complications and potential pitfalls with each of the different surgical techniques, along with their avoidance and management.
- Recognize the details of the surgical anatomy of the various lesions in the sellar region that can be approached using extended transsphenoidal operations.
